The Meet Cute: Kathryn and Taylor met through mutual friends in May 2016. They started off as friends, bonding over long conversations that ranged from serious to silly topics. When Kathryn returned to campus for her senior year of college, the two became inseparable. By October, they decided to give dating a try.
The Engagement: In November 2022, Taylor surprised Kathryn at Beavertail Lighthouse by getting down on one knee and asking the big question. A friend disguised as a bystander captured the moment along with personal touches Taylor had planned. The custom-made ring featured an inscription of their favorite saying and a hidden emerald, symbolizing when they met and both of their birthdays. Afterward, the couple drove to Tilted Barn Brewery, where Taylor surprised Kathryn with a gathering of their friends and family.
The First Look: The couple shared their first look beneath the archway of Shepherd’ s Run, where they also exchanged private vows. While it was a beautiful, emotional moment, they stayed focused on trying to keep each other warm during that chilly autumn day. Kathryn also shared a first look with her mother, father, brother and man-of-honor. As the only daughter, seeing her father before the ceremony was a significant moment for her.
Personal Touch: Kathryn and Taylor filled the day with hidden details that reflected their personalities— handwritten letters to their guests, curated playlists, custom crossword puzzles and even dog and cat treats for the guests’ furry friends. They wanted everyone to walk in and say,“ This is so Kathryn and Taylor.” A close family member officiated the ceremony, and their walk down the aisle symbolized their journey together; Taylor entered with her parents and met Kathryn halfway so they could continue side by side.
The Newlywed Post: Inspired by their love for storytelling, they created a personalized newspaper to share little behind-the-scenes moments leading up to the big day. They included them in welcome bags for guests to be informed of the weekend activities.

The Best Dog: Simcoe became a light in their lives after they welcomed him in July 2024, shortly after Taylor received her remission notice following eight difficult months of cancer treatment.“ Having him there to celebrate our wedding day wasn’ t even a question— he’ s family,” says the couple.
The Advice:“ Try not to fall into expectations of what others want and do what feels right to you and your partner!” says the couple.“ Marriage advice: Always make time to really check in with each other. Life can move fast but staying connected through honest conversations, small acts of love and shared laughter make the difference.”
