The Meet Cute : Ever since they were babies , Julia and Alex would visit Block Island every summer with their families . In 2012 , they officially crossed paths for the first time outside of Aldo ’ s Bakery . Their best friends , who happen to be siblings , were meeting at the bakery to exchange something , and that chance encounter pulled Julia and Alex into each other ’ s lives .
The Engagement : When Julia graduated college in 2019 , she and Alex moved into a tiny apartment in New York City . It was cozy and just enough for them at the time . The pandemic hit shortly after , so the couple relocated to upstate New York to stay with Julia ’ s father . When they were ready to return to the city , the pair found their dream apartment in the West Village . They furnished and adorned the space so it truly felt like home , something they weren ’ t able to do with their previous apartment . On a Thursday night in August 2022 , Alex planned a romantic dinner in their beloved neighborhood . Back at the apartment was the ultimate celebration — he proposed to Julia , then surprised her with a private boat tour around lower Manhattan .
The Ceremony : The couple tied the knot with a traditional New England summer wedding . A platform built over the pool at their Block Island venue gave the illusion that the bride was walking on water — an unforgettable touch to mark their special day .
The Decor : Julia adored every visual component from the wedding , though certain elements stood out . Details included the gorgeous Serena & Lily sconces on tent poles to match with the rattan chandeliers hanging above them inside the tent , the driftwood arbor Julia and Alex got married under , the breathtaking entrance into the tent , the al fresco seating areas , the hydrangea and white rose arrangement at the head table that cascaded to the floor and , of course , the reflective bridge over the pool .

The Advice : There are two things that go hand in hand in Julia ’ s eyes . One : “ There most likely won ’ t be another time when all your closest family and friends will be together at such a special place at one time . Make sure to take moments throughout the day to step back with your partner to just observe and take everything in .” Two : “ Before and during , it ’ s so easy to get caught up in the actual event of a wedding , so don ’ t lose sight of the reason you are there , which is to celebrate your love !” Julia says .
