The Meet Cute : One of David ’ s hobbies is working as an underwater photographer , and after Chelsea bought one of his prints in 2020 , David asked her out on a date . The photo that started it all is now hanging in their home .
The Engagement : While taking a walk on McCorrie Point Beach in Portsmouth , David suggested they take a rowboat to a more private area . “ We were skipping rocks and he suddenly got down on one knee with a very shiny rock , asking me to marry him ,” Chelsea says .
The Venue : The pair decided on Fort Getty in Jamestown to tie the knot because of its open field , sandy beach , rocky cliffs and stunning pavilion with the ocean as the backdrop .
The Theme : It was a blend of all the couple ’ s favorite things — the ocean , folk music , custom art , their favorite foods , vintage glassware and lots of seashells . That part of the day was “ emotional , romantic and wholesome ,” says Chelsea . “ Everything was beautiful , but the vows that Dave and I shared will always be my favorite part .”
The Officiant : Chelsea ’ s father officiated the wedding ; he was the obvious choice for the couple , as he is one of the wisest and most passionate people she knows . “ Having my dad marry us was the only choice that made sense ,” says Chelsea .
The Dresses : The bride had always fantasized about wearing a wedding dress with sleeves . The July date didn ’ t completely kick that idea to the curb — she found a loophole . “ I brought my vision to life with a tulle overlay for the ceremony , then removed it for dinner ,” Chelsea says . “ When the dancing began , I wanted a fun little number to match the energy of the party !” She returned to the dance floor with a pleated shell dress and strappy heels , continuing the beach party vibe .

The DIY : Chelsea and David visited thrift stores nearly every weekend leading up to the big day to gather an eclectic collection of glasses for their guests to drink out of during their wedding . “ I love fun glassware and hope our guests think of us every time they use their cups ,” Chelsea says . The one-of-a-kind details didn ’ t stop there : Chelsea , a pyrographer who uses burn marks to create designs on different surfaces , created custom-made hats for herself and her bridesmaids . “ I wanted each of my bridesmaids to have a custom piece that they could wear for the wedding and after . I thought it would be the perfect personal touch to complete my bridal look ,” says Chelsea .
The Advice : “ Don ’ t overthink it ! Incorporate things you love most . Your wedding will be a display of what makes you unique as individuals and as a couple ,” Chelsea says .
