The Meet Cute : In 2019 , Amie and Lauren both swiped right on Hinge . While Lauren , who was in New Haven , CT , had her distance set to 100 miles , Amie — in Worcester , MA — thought she had hers on twenty miles . The app unknowingly broadened the Rhode Island native ’ s horizons , as she and Lauren were ninety-nine miles apart . Right after Easter , the two met halfway at Blue Water Sushi in Ludlow , MA . They closed the sushi spot down — not only because they were reluctant to drive an hour back home , but because being in each other ’ s presence was too much fun .
The Engagement : Lauren and Amie proposed to one another on two different occasions . In May 2021 , Amie reached out to Jordan Cruz , a friend and principal designer of Enchanted Events , to help with proposal planning . India Point Park is a huge part of their relationship , so there she got down on one knee as photos were taken to memorialize the weekend . That September , Lauren took Amie to New York City — their favorite city — for her proposal , where World Pride was taking place . Popping the question during dinner at Del Frisco ' s Double Eagle Steakhouse , Lauren also surprised her fiancee with her first Broadway experience — a showing of The Lion King .
The First Look : After getting ready at Hotel Providence , the two met up the first time that day at the hotel ’ s courtyard . Amie , in a dark green suit , turned around to see Lauren in her slim V-neck dress and couldn ’ t resist a hug with her soon-to-be wife . “ I was worried about being emotional all day , but I was on cloud nine ,” Amie says .
The Cake : Although the wrong cake was brought to the venue — the interior of the top tier was supposed to be vibrant with rainbow layers but instead was your classic white cake with strawberries — it was delicious and the experience resulted in a hilarious moment captured in one of their favorite photos . “ It ended up being a cute thing we laugh about . We actually got the photo on an ornament for Christmas ,” Lauren says .

The Details : The wedding guests were a huge fan of saxophone player Mike Rollins and the band , who got everybody up and dancing . “ Lauren ’ s family comes from a musical background , so we really wanted to have a live band ,” says Amie . The lovebirds were also grateful to have been able to get married at their home church as rainbow flags filled the downtown Providence streets during Pride Weekend . The brunch wedding allowed them to enjoy the day as newlyweds , then partake in the night parade for Pride that evening with their families .
