The Meet Cute : Daniel and I met in Pensacola , Florida , while in college . We were friends for a while before we officially started dating our junior year . Luckily , we both lived in New England ( I ’ m from Kingston , Rhode Island , and he is from Bloomfield , Connecticut ) so we were still close even on school breaks . After graduating , we continued dating long distance for a few years while Daniel pursued a Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy and I started my career in Rhode Island .
The Engagement : Daniel had been planning a surprise proposal for months ; everyone was in on it . He had my sister and friends take me out to dinner , and he “ couldn ’ t make it ” because he “ had a meeting ” that night . After finishing our meal , my sister suggested we go down the road to Hazard Rock in Narragansett to watch the sunset — not an unusual sunset spot , so I wasn ’ t suspicious . We parked and started our walk toward the water when I noticed candles and rose petals on the ground . I looked up and there he was standing on the edge of the rocks with roses and a ring . I spun around and said , “ I ’ m getting engaged !” I threw my purse at my sister and made my way down toward the water . I was totally shocked !
The Wedding Plans : We are planning a fun , elegant , late summer wedding with a romantic outdoor waterfront ceremony followed by a formal ballroom reception . Our color palette will be white with accents of blush and dark green . We ’ re adding steel blue for the bridesmaids ’ dresses for a real “ pop ” of color . Our flowers are going to be garden-style with fresh-cut local and seasonal flowers with romantic blooms of ivory and blush . We are planning to incorporate fun and exciting elements for our guests to stay involved throughout the evening and make it a night to remember ! We have been attending local bridal shows throughout New England and have officially booked all vendors for our big day . We are most looking forward to spending the weekend with all of our family and friends who are coming to celebrate with us .
