August 24, 2018 | Dual Edge Photography Brittany & Jason The Meet Cute: Both Jason and Brittany are northern Rhode Islanders by way of Cranston. “We met at a job we both worked at years ago and then reconnected years later,” Brittany says. The Engagement: Jason proposed on their fourth Valentine’s day together. He followed up with a reservation at Capriccio Restaurant in Providence to celebrate. The Aesthetic: “I already had a romantic theme and color scheme in mind after looking through Pinterest,” Brittany says. So, where did the skulls (see: soles of the bride’s shoes) come from? “Where do I begin,” she laughs. “I have a little obsession with skulls — I have for a long time. I love edgy, dark stuff and Halloween.” Brittany admits she might have even sprung for a black reception dress if she had had the money to spare. “But, I also love my bling, so why not a little of both? Just a splash of edgy so I wouldn’t scare the crowd away.” Plus, she adds, the skulls are more her thing than Jason’s. One of their wedding photographers, Adam, even got in on the theme by donning a nice, white button-down shirt with tiny embroidered skulls. The Ceremony: The first thought Jason had while Brittany walked down the aisle towards him? “’Please don’t faint!’” Jason says. “The second was, ‘Wow, she looks amazing!’ and the last was just pure excitement knowing that I was finally going to marry my true love.” Brittany had similar sentiments: “I was thinking, ‘Don’t trip on my dress,’” she says, “and how I was so happy and excited that the big day was finally here and that I get to marry my best friend.” The Fumble: “During the ring exchange, our officiant handed Jason the ring and Jason dropped it!” Brittany recalls. “Which made us and all of our guests laugh. It was a good change of pace to help us through the seriousness/nervousness!” 126 | ENGAGED IN SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND 2020 The Vendors: Brittany and Jason were blown away by their whole team. “Dual Edge’s style really impressed us on top of being so much fun to work with; our florist, Jay from Golden Gate, came directly to the hotel and even kneeled down in front of me to deliver my absolutely beautiful bouquet; our videographer made such an amazing video that lets us relive the moment forever; Tiffany at Kirkbrae was so organized and made us feel stress-free; our DJ kept us dancing the whole night; and our officiant was phenomenal — he was so funny and made us so comfortable.” Brittany gushes. “We have nothing but awesome things to say about all of our vendors. We couldn’t be any happier with the way everything turned out!” The Tribute: At the reception, the couple displayed a memorial for loved ones who had passed away. “That was very special to us, especially because we had lost my grandmother and his uncle a few months before the wedding,” Brittany explains. “It was hard, but nice to have pictures and have them there in our hearts.” The Highlights: “Finally being married to Brittany! Also, having my ninety-two-year- old grandmother, Evelyn Cianci, there to watch, and seeing all of my friends and family Jason having such a good time.” — “A few of my favorite moments were finally marrying Jason and surprising him by walking down the aisle to one of our favorite songs. I also loved when my mother surprised me with a locket containing a picture of my grandmother. I was able to hang it from my bouquet. Also, my dance with my father — who almost passed away unexpectedly the month before our wedding — was very emotional, but such a blessing!” — Brittany
