Engaged 2020 | Page 8

Engaged a letter from the thern New England i n Sou { contributors } Karli Hendrickson team Weddings in southern New England can’t be beat. Okay, maybe we’re a little biased, but hear us out. We get our pick of the seasons, we can pull off any and all themes and palettes and we are fortunate to have couples from all walks of life. The proof is in the pages of our 2020 issue of Engaged in Southern New England (formerly Rhode Island Monthly’s Engaged). Flip to page 89 to see three trendy themes in action (showcasing a number of talented local vendors) or to page 39 for a look at the variety of venues this little slice of the East Coast has at its disposal. And though we’ve always dabbled in Massachusetts weddings, this is the first year we’ve extended our reach to the Cape. But, instead of diving in head-first, we got our toes wet by consulting a local Cape planner about all the things that make up a Cape Cod wedding (see page 81.) We also included essential planning tips from twenty-plus local wedding industry experts (page 25), caught up with six local betrothed couples to chat about their engagement sessions (page 19) and featured inspirational looks and stories from more than twenty local newlyweds (starting page 109). So, no matter your vision, we’re confident that our 2020 issue will make you even more excited to be engaged in southern New England. P.S. Also, a huge shout to all of our contributing photographers who provided all of the stunning real wedding photos. We could not have filled these pages without all of you! xoxo, The Engaged Team Karli Hendrickson didn't attend a wedding until after she was out of college. She only achieved her life-long dream of being a flower girl two years ago in her cousin's ceremony (which probably made her more of a flower woman). Now in her thirties, she attends more weddings than she can keep track of! Styling for Engaged is fun for her, as she loves the challenge of finding dresses, suits and accessories for all tastes and price points. When she isn't styling for Rhode Island Monthly, Karli is a freelance graphic designer and often creates wedding save- the-dates, invitations and signage. Angel Tucker “Surrounded by cakes, chocolates and macarons is how I would like to spend almost any given day. When I get to be around them for work... It's even better.” Angel Tucker had the privilege of shooting a lot of the fabulously gorgeous wedding cakes and favors in this issue. When she’s not shooting in the kitchens and dining rooms of New England’s chefs, bakers and makers, Angel maintains a studio in Warren, RI. Chris Vaccaro Weddings are a very big undertaking. Each decision impacts the other to form the final creative vision. It’s struck me that organizing the Engaged photo shoot is much like planning a wedding. Picking a theme and organizing the people, props, backgrounds, etc. I have been fortunate to have worked with the Engaged crew on this photo shoot since it began. It is a seamless effort every time, and on the day of the photo shoot, much like the parent at a wedding, I just have to walk down the aisle knowing everything will be just right. I hope you enjoy the spreads and it helps make some of the decisions easier. Kaitlyn Murray, Associate Editor Meaghan Susi, Associate Art Director 6 | ENGAGED IN SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND 2020
