Courtney & Tim

The fateful day was November 13, 2008. Courtney was in undergrad and waiting
tables at the Mucky Duck, a small live music venue in Houston, Texas, when Tim and
his friends stopped by to see Willie Porter perform. They sat in Courtney’s section, she
brought Tim a Guinness, and that was all it took.
Six years later, the couple found themselves in Newport — where they both had spent
time as kids — for a wedding. “We had such a wonderful time that, while sitting at the
Landing enjoying a beer, Tim looked at me and said, ‘We should get married here!’”
Courtney recalls. “I responded with, ‘Well, you should propose first!’” Jump ahead
another four years and he did just that, popping the question beneath the Christmas
tree. To this day, Courtney thinks she must have blacked out during the exchange. In
fact, on the way home from a celebratory dinner that night, she asked Tim if she even
gave him a response. He laughed and said, “I didn’t give you the ring until you said yes!”
In addition to their wedding, the lovebirds opted to hold their engagement session
in the City by the Sea. “Tim hates photos, so this gave him an opportunity to get
comfortable with it prior to the wedding,” Courtney says. “It was also a good way to
get familiar with Brad. You spend your entire wedding day with your photographer,
so you want to be comfortable with them. Brad is amazing and super laidback — he
made the session really fun.” Plus, we’re sure popping the on-hand bottle of Veuve
Clicquot — the couple’s champagne of choice — also helped a bit!
Jamie & Derek

Here’s proof that destiny might just be a thing, after all. Despite going
separate ways for college after two years of dating in high school, Derek and
Jamie found their way back to one another in 2015 through mutual friends.
“It didn’t take us long to realize that this time would be forever!” Jamie says. It
took only three years, in fact; their fate was later sealed in 2018. “My sister was
studying abroad in Florence, Italy, for her spring semester, so it was a no brainer
that our annual vacation would be there that year,” Jamie recalls. “It was our
third day of exploring and we were having an afternoon drink on a beautiful
rooftop terrace overlooking the Duomo when Derek got down on one knee! It
was totally unexpected and perfect in every way.”
Their engagement session at Truro Vineyards was equally as perfect. “My dad
has a place in Truro, so we spend a lot of time there in the summer months and
the vineyards is one of our favorite places to spend the afternoon,” Jamie explains.
“We wanted to pick somewhere beautiful but also meaningful — Truro was the
perfect spot.” They also hopped over to the Highland Lighthouse across the street
to finish the shoot just as the sun was setting, which Jamie says added the perfect
Cape Cod touch to their session. The couple’s pup, Calvin, was likewise a must-
have for the shoot. “He goes everywhere with us and he certainly wasn’t going
to miss out on this day,” Jamie adds. “We ordered a custom sign from Etsy that
worked out great — Calvin is now considering a career in modeling!”
