Aldrich
mansion
What sets Aldrich Mansion apart? The natural beauty of our seventy-acre property, the
elegant architecture and hand-carved details all make for a unique venue space on Narragansett
Bay. And we only host one event at the mansion per day, giving the client exclusivity at a
reasonable price. The bridal party is able to get ready at the mansion up to one and a half hours
prior to the ceremony and our reception areas have plenty of space for dining and dancing as
well as a beautiful terrace area for guests to relax and take in the water view.
What themes suit your venue best? The mansion is a historic building so we’ve worked
with all sorts of vintage themes, like Great Gatsby, “Downton Abbey”, the Roaring Twenties and
different types of costume parties, but we’ve also accommodated plenty of contemporary themes.
Where are the best photo ops on your property? Either on the marble staircase or
at the boathouse by the water. But really, all of the property’s stone buildings and lush gardens
provide a great backdrop.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR on-site coordinator. Tony Maggiacomo’s job is to make the
whole process as seamless and painless as possible. Tony will answer any and all of
your questions from the time you inquire to the time you walk into the mansion on your
wedding day. He takes all worries out of the equation for the couple so they can enjoy
the planning process and relax come wedding day.
What’s your catering situation? We have a full-time chef who has been with us for
twenty-nine years. There are too many delicious hors d’oeuvres to highlight just one, but his beef
tenderloin is by far the favorite amongst entrees we offer. But the hit of the night is always the
dessert room. Filled with cakes, the guests are blown away by both the presentation and the taste.
Tell us about a particularly memorable wedding you’ve hosted. Every
wedding is unique; just when you thought you’ve seen it all, another wedding does something
different. Recently, we hosted a wedding during which the guests held dinner in the mansion’s
foyer instead of the dining rooms because they had a smaller guest count. This just shows the
versatility of the mansion and staff; we can think outside the box.
What advice would you give to newly engaged couples? If you have a particular
type of venue in mind and theme, that’s great, but be open-minded. You may find that a certain
venue that you never really thought about is actually to your liking once you visit. Also, visit as
many venues as possible — ‘the one’ will grab you as the place where it all begins!
