to Newport and book the Bohlin . From there , Nimota Garcia , their wedding planner whom the couple could not praise enough , helped them nail down the rest of their vendors and details . But even with a concrete plan , Sade was a selfproclaimed nervous wreck the morning of her wedding . That is , until she saw Nick . “ I ’ m so glad we did a first look because it really calmed me down ,” she says . “ He was just smiling and telling me that I looked great and that it didn ’ t matter if anything went wrong because we were getting married .”
After that she was able to thoroughly enjoy her big day . Highlights included : exchanging vows right on Narragansett Bay ; Sade ’ s nieceturned-flower girl ( dubbed the “ understudy ” of the night due to her infatuation with Nick ) dropping petals around the couple as they danced to Frank Sinatra ’ s “ The Way You Look Tonight ”; cry-laughing as a slideshow projected a mix of embarrassing and nostalgic photos throughout the night ; indulging in a sweet tooth ’ s dream candy bar ; and participating in a traditional Nigerian “ money dance ” where each dollar thrown at the couple represented a blessing on their marriage .
“ My parents are from Nigeria so incorporating our culture into the wedding was really important to me ,” Sade recalls . “ Nick and I changed after dinner and my mother made sure we took photos before our photographer called it a night ... I think that was my favorite moment . Just seeing my parents — who are not emotional people — get all choked up at the sight of Nick and I in our Nigerian outfits . I ’ ll never forget that feeling .” ◆
