When to shop for wedding bands: As soon as
you have a wedding date. Because here’s the thing:
your dress, your cake, your flowers, your DJ/band?
They’re all temporary. What aren’t? Each other and
your rings. Those are for life. Looking early on takes
a lot of the stress off too, especially if you’re doing
custom because you won’t have to worry whether
they will be done in time for the vows.

30 | RHODE ISLAND MONTHLY'S ENGAGED 2018
Have you noticed any new wedding band
trends? Many women these days are going for
something a little outside the box; maybe a twist
band or a band with different diamonds than their
engagement ring to show a little more contrast.
We have about every different style wedding
band you can imagine and brides-to-be can try
on almost anything to see what looks best. Or, if
they have something more original in mind, we
can make it for them on premises.
How about for men’s bands? For a while
everyone was buying tungsten or titanium rings
and while they do have an attractive price point,
there’s a lot of limitations. You should have your
wedding band for the rest of your life and that
means you’re probably going to need to get
a different size at some point. Tungsten and
titanium can’t be resized so you’d eventually have
to buy a whole new ring, one that won’t mean
as much because you didn’t wear it on your
wedding day. Precious metals like gold, white gold
and platinum, on the other hand, can be worked
on. I’ll hear a lot of guys say, “Oh I don’t want to
get gold because I work on cars.” But you can
wear a gold wedding band forever and if it starts
to get thin, we can just add to it.
What advice do you have for engaged
couples? Make sure that you’ve picked the most
beautiful diamond. It doesn’t always have to do with
carat or weight — it has to do with the shine. They’re
the ones that always perform best. We know our
stuff: We own more diamonds, all GIA-certified, than
any other jewelry store in the state. There isn’t a
ring that you can dream of that we can’t make.
