Catering2Order was recently awarded a contract by the Olympic Delivery Authority( ODA) to provide catering services to the Olympic construction site in east London. The small business based in Southwark offers a breakfast and lunch menu for approximately 150 office and construction workers.
Catering2Order was established in July 2007 by John Charles( pictured below, with Mike Mulvey of London Business Network) who set up the company after suffering a medical condition which left him visually impaired. Catering2Order’ s team of 15, many of whom are also visually impaired, currently service a portfolio of small public and private sector contracts in south east London.
John was informed of the catering contract advertised on CompeteFor, by the Canary Wharf Group’ s business development organisation, of which John is a member. He registered immediately and applied for the contract within the same day. Using a screen reader to access CompeteFor, John found the process extremely accessible and straight forward. Catering2Order was shortlisted for the opportunity and after providing some additional documentation regarding hygiene and health and safety, was awarded the contract.

According to John, the CompeteFor website is an important tool for SMEs.“ As a small business with no dedicated marketing department, we would never have been able to put our business in front of buyers so easily or even known about this opportunity in the first place. CompeteFor is free, easy to use and saves us such a lot of time as all the information you need about potential leads is contained in the one place.”
