As the Mayor of London I am committed to encouraging enterprise and entrepreneurialism amongst all Londoners, including those currently underrepresented in London business, so I am delighted to lend my support to Engage magazine.
Over the next 10 years Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups will account for 80 per cent of the increase in London’ s working age population and although BAME owned groups already make a significant contribution to the London economy in terms of job creation, GDP and wealth creation, it is essential that we work to ensure that everyone is equally able to participate in London’ s economy now and in the future.
London hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012 will open up business opportunities with an estimated 75,000 business opportunities worth some £ 6 billion to be had. Around a fifth of these opportunities are expected to go through the CompeteFor system, an excellent system for matching businesses up with the numerous 2012 related contracts. To find out more or to register please visit www. competefor. com.
I hope you enjoy reading Engage magazine and look forward to working with some of you in the future.
