Opportunities for Business
The Olympic Delivery Authority( ODA) is a public body, established on 1 st April 2006 under the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act. Its responsibility is to supply the permanent venues, infrastructure projects and transport plans that are required for the successful delivery of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and the Games legacy.
The ODA is responsible for the design and build of the Olympic Park and venues which include the Olympic Village, Stadium and Media Centre and for delivering the Olympic transport plan. To provide these venues and infrastructure, the ODA will tender for businesses to deliver the works through contracts or other commercial arrangements.
Over the next two years, work on the
Olympic Park site will be focused on clearing up and cleaning up the land to provide a platform for the Olympic Park and venues. Work on construction is due to commence in mid 2008 ready for completion in time for the Games in 2012.
The ODA has started the procurement of the major contracts to deliver the Olympic Stadium and has recently appointed CLM as its delivery partner to support the ODA in delivering the works. A Procurement Policy has been developed by the ODA which sets out when the main policies the ODA will pursue in procuring goods and services. Opportunities will be available for companies to provide goods and services required to deliver the Games. Businesses from sectors including construction, engineering and manufacturing as well as retail stand to benefit from the Games.
The ODA is committed to engaging all business, from one-person home based companies, to small – to medium enterprises and large corporations to make the London 2012 Games a success. Opportunities for small business are likely to be through smaller contracts or subcontracts of the major contractors. The ODA is committed to encouraging a diverse supply base amongst its contractors.
