ENFIELD HISTORY : TALKS & WALKS ( Thursday ) Enfield Annex – 8 sessions – Room A226 Fee $ 130 – 2:30 p . m . - 4:30 p . m . Jim Malley Class begins March 7 No Surcharge , No Senior Discount This class will cover topics from early Native American settlements to the present . Topics will include Enfield neighborhoods and street names , schools , rivers & brooks , Thompsonville , the Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Co ., Hazard Powder Co ., the Shakers , the 1955 Flood , and the transformation from a rural mill and farm town in 1950 to a substantial suburban community in 1980 . This class will include a walking tour in Hazardville , the Enfield Historic District , and two walks in Thompsonville .

RT 190 ENFIELD / SUFFIELD VETERANS BRIDGE & CANAL WALKING TOUR ( Saturday ) Former Alcorn School – 9:30 a . m . - 12:00 p . m . April 27 ( Rain date May 4 ) Fee $ 25 – Jim Malley No Surcharge , No Senior Discount The walking tour begins at the former Alcorn School and heads down Franklin Street and examines the 1960s construction of Route 190 and the Enfield-Suffield Veterans Bridge . The walk continues over the Connecticut River to the northern locks of the canal to the Bridge Lane / Bridge Street Remnants . The tour returns across the river , north on Pearl Street , then turns on New King Street back to the Alcorn School . ( Tour starts at former Alcorn School - 1010 Enfield Street )
ENFIELD STREET CEMETERY & THOMPSONVILLE CEMETERY ( Saturday ) 1181 Enfield Street ( across from Spier Ave .) May 11 ( Rain Date May 18 ) 9:30 a . m . – 12:00 p . m . Fee $ 25 – Jim Malley No Surcharge , No Senior Discount The walking tour begins at the Enfield Street Cemetery Grounds . We will discuss the creation of the Enfield Cemetery Association and visit the final resting places of Colonel Augustus Hazard , Orrin Thompson , Dr . Vail , and a few more former residents . The Tour will continue by car to the Thompsonville Cemetery on Pleasant Street . We will also visit the final resting places of Dr . Thomas Alcorn , Edgar H . Parkman , John Pickens and some other former residents . ( The tour will begin at the Enfield Street Cemetery , 1181 Enfield Street )
