HAZARDVILLE WALKING TOUR ( Saturday ) School Street – 9:30 a . m . - 12:00 p . m . April 22 ( Rain date April 29 ) Fee $ 25 - Jim Malley No Surcharge , No Senior Discount The village of Hazardville was named after Colonel Augustus G . Hazard , owner of the Hazard Powder Company . Business and industry grew rapidly around its main industry . This walking tour begins at the playground at the corner of School Street and Hazard Avenue . The tour will head up School Street , then head east on Hazard Avenue past the Hazardville Fire Department and the former Bridge Manufacturing Co . to Park Street . The tour continues past St . Bernard ’ s Church and School , the former Hazardville Hotel and Cannister Hill . The tour turns east past the former Enfield Pharmacy and the Old Hazardville Cemetery . The tour continues past the Hazardville Institute building , the Connecticut Valley Tobacconist , and ends at the former Hazardville Grammar School . ( Participants will park on School Street along the Hazardville Playground )
THOMPSONVILLE & CANAL WALKING TOUR ( Saturday ) Former Alcorn School – 9:30 a . m . - 12:00 p . m . May 6 ( Rain date May 20 ) Fee $ 25 – Jim Malley No Surcharge , No Senior Discount The walking tour begins at the former Alcorn School and heads down Frew Terrace and examines the 1960s construction of Route 190 and the Enfield-Suffield Veterans Bridge . The walk continues over the Connecticut River to the northern locks of the canal . The tour returns across the river , north on Pearl Street , then turns on New King Street back to the Alcorn School . ( Tour starts at former Alcorn School - 1010 Enfield Street )
THOMPSONVILLE WALKING TOUR ( Saturday ) Enfield Town Green - 9:30 a . m . -12:00 p . m . May 27 ( Raindate June 3 ) Fee $ 25- Jim Malley No Surcharge , No Senior Discount The village of Thompsonville was named after Orrin Thompson , owner of the Thompsonville Carpet Co . in 1828 . Business and industry grew rapidly around its main industry . This 2-hour walking tour begins at the water fountain in front of Town Hall , wraps around Freshwater Pond , the Polish Home , and the Bigelow Commons . The tour continues past the Connecticut River front , Cottage Green , Pearl St ., and High St . ( Tour starts at the Enfield Town Green – 820 Enfield St .)
