Best of the season to everyone and happy holidays . It ’ s been a heck of a year . Plenty of challenges and plenty of successes too .
We have finally got changes to Australian Standards around open flue gas heaters . It ’ s been a long process since 2018 when the Victorian Coroner recommended we look at ways to phase out these heaters , which can leak carbon monoxide into living areas . From January 1 open flue gas heaters will be manufactured in a very different way .
This month we worked with other regulators in the building industry on the Build Aware program . Build Aware seeks to highlight compliance across all parts of the building industry , including electrical and gas .
We have also made changes to ESVConnect so contractors can buy certificates for their electricians rather than the electrical workers buying the certificate and then getting it refunded . It ’ s a simple change that should make the certificates process a bit easier . There is more on certificates on page 13 and 14 , with a warning against technical advisors completing certificates instead of the electrician that actually did the work
We profile ESV ’ s High Energy team on pages 26 and 27 . The team has been around for a while but are back in the field after coronavirus ( COVID-19 ) lockdowns .
All the very best from all of us at ESV . Look forward to seeing you in 2022 .
