Matthew Scutcheon, of Brown Hill
(unregistered builder) appeared in Bacchus
Marsh Magistrates’ Court charged with
carrying on electrical contracting work when
not registered and employing a person to
carry out electrical work when that person was
not licensed. Scutcheon was released on an
undertaking to be of good behaviour for 12
months and fined $1000.
Arthur Mahera, of Ascot Vale (LEIW) appeared
at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court charged
with carrying out electrical contracting work
when not registered, installing unsafe electrical
equipment and failing to complete a COES.
Maheras was released on a good behaviour
bond for 12 months and fined $1500.
ASTRAPY Electrics Pty Ltd, of Ascot Vale,
was unregistered at the time of the offences
and appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’
Court charged with contracting work when not
registered, installing unsafe electrical work and
employing a person to carry out electrical work
when that person was not licensed. ASTRAPY
Electrics Pty Ltd was released on a good
behaviour bond for 12 months.
Halil Emin (REC/LEIW) appeared at Heidelberg
Magistrates’ Court charged with giving
misleading information, failing to ensure that
prescribed electrical work carried out was
inspected and carried out electrical work that
did not comply with the Act and regulations.
Emin was released on a good behaviour
bond for 12 months with a condition that
compensation of $4000 be paid to the victim.
Emin was also ordered to pay a further
$2376.67 costs.
Rodney Sharp (unlicensed and unregistered)
appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court
charged with giving misleading information
and carrying out 17 electrical installation works
when not a licensed electrician. Sharp was
fined $1500 without conviction and ordered to
pay a further $1500 costs.
David Dodd (unlicensed for electrical and
plumbing) appeared at Mildura Magistrates’
Court charged with carrying out electrical
installation work when not a licensed
electrician, installing unsafe electrical
equipment and carrying out plumbing work
