Feels like we have only just begun 2022 but here we are ; March already and getting ready for winter .
For gasfitters , the carbon monoxide awareness campaign will be on again , encouraging owners of open-flued gas heaters to get servicing carried out at least once every two years . This comes as new regulations are developed for servicing standards , and of course the change in Standards that commenced January 1 , which will see significant changes in the way open-flued gas heaters are manufactured .
Being the end of summer , we are also starting a solar safety campaign , encouraging solar owners to get their PV systems serviced once every two years . We have found that many who have taken up solar believe that their system is ‘ set and forget ’. The awareness campaign reminds people that if they want the benefits of solar but to avoid the risks , servicing by a licensed A grade electrician is required .
We have had more incidents of heavy or large machinery coming into contact with powerlines . These incidents never end well , people can be seriously hurt or injured . Our Look Up and Live campaign will continue in 2022 and we will be working closely with distribution businesses and WorkSafe .
