Likewise also as it was in the
days of Lot; they did eat, they
drank, they bought, they sold,
they planted, they builded; But
the same day that Lot went out of
Sodom it rained fire and brimstone
from heaven, and destroyed them
all. Even thus shall it be in the day
when the Son of man is revealed.
Luke 17:28-30
We know the prominent societal condition during Lot’s time was
homosexuality. Lot lived in Sodom,
the city that gave homosexuality its
name. Jesus prophesied that the same
societal conditions Lot faced would
be prominent at the time of His
Second Coming.
The advance of homosexuality
during 2012 was unprecedented. In
2011, President Obama had ordered
US Attorney General Eric Holder
to stop defending the Defense of
Marriage Act in court.
Then on May 9, 2012, Obama
came out openly in support of same
sex marriage. Many thought his open
endorsement of two men or two

women being married would result in
his defeat in the November presidential elections. However, they obviously
underestimated the moral shift that
the United States had undergone.
On November 6, 2012, a majority of Americans voted for a president
they knew favored same-sex marriage.
“…As it was in the days of Lot…
even thus shall it be in the day when
the Son of man is revealed.”
Following are excerpts from news
items that appeared throughout 2012.
They illustrate the continuing slide of
our world into the moral conditions
that permeated society at the time
of Lot.
