Lot lived in Sodom, the city that gave homosexuality its name. Jesus prophesied that the same societal conditions Lot faced would be prominent at the time of His Second Coming. The advance of homosexuality during 2012 was unprecedented. In 2011, President Obama had ordered US Attorney General Eric Holder to stop defending the Defense of Marriage Act in court. Then on May 9, 2012, Obama came out openly in support of same sex marriage. However, they obviously underestimated the moral shift that the United States had undergone.
