What´s The Endocrine System?

The Endocrine System is the system of glands that produces endocrine secreations that help to control bodily Metabolic Activity.

What are the main parts of the Endocrine system?

-Thyroid: Your thyroid is a gland located at the base of your neck. The purpose of your thyroid gland is to make, store, and release thyroid hormones into your blood.

-Adrenal Gland: Small, triangular glands located on top of both kidneys. The adrenal glands work interactively with the hypothalamus and pituitary gland.

The hypothalamus produces corticotropin-releasing hormones, which stimulate the pituitary gland.

The pituitary gland, in turn, produces corticotropin hormones, which stimulate the adrenal glands to produce corticosteroid hormones.

-Pancreas: The pancreas is a glandular organ in the upper abdomen, a digestive exocrine gland and a hormone-producing endocrine gland. Functioning as an exocrine gland, the pancreas excretes enzymes to break down the proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids in food.

-Heart: Muscular organ that functions as the body’s circulatory pump. It takes in deoxygenated blood through the veins and delivers it to the lungs for oxygenation before pumping it into the various arteries.

-Thymus: The thymus serves a vital role in the training and development of T-lymphocytes or T cells, an extremely important type of white blood cell.
