TESTIMONIES OF THE MEDICAL NURSES FROM
LIPIK OF THE HOMELAND WAR
The archive footages are collected from war film tapers, and parts are from TV
documentaries by the initiative of Ljerka Pavković and Mirjana Cahun . For the
needs of the city of Lipik, video materials are collected that are used for writing
history documentation which is the most accurate way of showing the tragedy of
the city; civilian casualties, defenders, human faiths and other atrocities that only
war can bring. Of the destruction and rebuilt of the city with great historic heritage
will testify the medical nurses that have personally experiences it so that it is
REMEMBERED. The land mines attack ceased all the beauty of life in the city of
Lipik on August the 19th 1991 at 5am. Grenades were falling on the whole city,
children's home, hospital, school, stable, church, civilian objects… There are
testimonies of that. How they felt, what they were thinking, what they did, how
they managed and organized, of what was hardest for them they will testify in the
film of the medical nurses that took part in all of that: Mirjana Cahun, Ljerka
Pavković, Elizabeta-Mira Delač, Marija Ljevaković, Željka Ivošević, Josip Matijević
etc. After the liberation of Lipik on December 6th 1991, the city began to see life
returning. The Rebuild began. The contribution of the medical nurses for the
rebuild of Lipik and the Hospital cannot be measured. The strength, faith and will
of the people to have Lipik be brought back to its former glory lives to this today.
