HOW TO BE A GOOD LIDER
Leadership is the most important and complicated function of influencing people
to achieve common goals jointly. This is an important co-ordination and cohesion
of all management functions: planning, organizing, managing and controlling.
Leadership is linked to the relationships and willingness of others to follow leaders.
The existence of effective leaders who will successfully take nursing practice and
care through today's turbulent period of full-scale changes are of crucial
importance for further perspectives of health care and health at all. Nurses as
carriers of the health care process should, in addition to clinical knowledge,
possess both managerial skills and know how to manage human and material
resources within the health system. The leader must know the phenomenon of
motivation, its role, significance and consequences, the factors motivated by its
followers, and those that lead to demotivation. Leadership and motivation are the
answer to the challenges of modern business. Leadership is a driving force that
encourages change. The power of leadership comes from the vision of the leader,
his driving energy that drives the overcoming of obstacles. Being a good leader
means knowing yourself, your personal strength and borders, but also recognizing
the needs of others. Leadership in nursing is a set of critical thinking, action and
advocacy with an immediate impact on the nursing community. Nurses are in a
good position to be leaders, but have additional knowledge and skills in team
management and effective communication, and more power and greater
involvement in decision-making.
