Lecturer Healty Science Faculty Necmettin Erbakan University, Konya, TR [email protected] DEBRIEFING ASSESSMENTS OF NURSING STUDENTS FOR A SIMULATION SCENARIO IN NURSING EDUCATION Introduction The aim of this descriptive study is investigate to debriefing assessments of nursing students for a simulation scenario in nursing education. Methods The sample consist of fourth grade nursing students (n = 18) who participated in the simulation scenario entitled "Approach to child with foreign body aspiration". This scenario was written by authors. The data from at the students at the after the simulation realizing was collection by "Debriefing Assessment for Simulation in Healthcare (DASH) Student version ". It was asked from the students that they were gave a score between 1 and 7 for each item on assessments tool. Institutional permission was obtained and the students participated voluntary to research. Results: Gender of all students was female and their mean of the age was found 21.89±.96. Most of the students (n=17) have experienced the least 5-10 times simulation education during their education. All of the students stated that the simulation training certainly contributes greatly to learning nursing skills. It was found that nursing students' debriefing assessments scores for this simulation scenario were changed from 6.17 to 6.72. It means that these scores were "6=Consistently Effective / Very Good, 7=Extremely Effective / Outstanding". The students evaluated the simulation training fairly well. Discussion: All of the participants stated to greatly contributing to learning nursing skills of simulation training. After the scenario realizing, in the debriefing process, nursing students explored and analyzed their actions and thought processes, emotional states, and other information to improve performance in real situations.
