Objective: Study the behaviour on the metastable austenitic phase of hypoeutectoid Cu–Al–Be shape memory alloy under thermal precipitations and their effects on the alloy global microstructure. The results are expected to benefit the applications of copper-based shape memory alloys under various conditions. SHAPE MEMORY BEHAVIOUR LITERATURE After several cycles of material education Stage 1 : None deformed metastable β1 phase Stage 2 : Deformed metastable β1 phase Stage 3 : Warming deformed metastable Stage 4 : Cooling deformed metastable β1 phase β1 phase METHODS      After betatizing for 30 min at 750 C, the ingot was water quenched to obtain the metastable β1 phase at room temperature. The martensite transformation start (Ms) temperature for this alloy was determined by DSC to be −37 C. In case of isothermal treatment, the samples were first heat treated at 350 C for 0.3 to 864 ks (240 h), (two samples each time), and subsequently air-cooled.
