Poetry for the soul

by Michael Lovato

You say that you're scared, well I'm scared too, scared of you walking away, I'm scared of losing you.

You tell me that you've been hurt, many times so have I, been deceived one too many times, I believed one too many lies.

I'm afraid of what to say, I'm afraid of what to write, what if I say something wrong, and none of this comes out right?

I understand that you've been hurt, I know that you've been broken, please believe me when I tell you, all are true, the words that I have spoken.

I am not here to cause hurt, nor will I bring you any pain, my only wish is to love you, to be your shelter from the rain.

Babygirl I know it's difficult, I promise to go slow, because forever I want to be with you, holding your heart and your hand, I promise never to let go.
