FROM THE INSTITUTE
Dear Readers ,
2023 has been a busy year at the Museum of Encaustic Art in New Mexico , just south of Santa Fe - USA . The number of people from all over the world who have come to see the most extensive collection of encaustic / wax works in North America often end up in the " reading room " looking through the printed version of every magazine the non-profit has published . Artists and patrons alike usually take time to appreciate and learn about artists and their journeys with this medium .
I am humbled by and applaud all the artists who have collaborated with us to produce this beautiful and inspiring magazine over the years .
This issue ' s cover by Melanie Williams , who lives in Wales , shares her knowledge gained through 35 years of self-teaching with her current expertise in detailed landscapes crafted specifically to allow one to touch and feel the textures and surfaces . Like other featured artists in this issue , this medium crossed her path at an early age , and its influence has become her passion .
The technique artist Elizabeth Schowachert ' s unique approach to creating the encaustic tools she is known for and applying their diverse application is remarkable . Her article is motivating and opens up another avenue of texture and design .
All year , we stay tuned to artists who cross our path and search for artists on the leading edge of their medium or subject matter . I encourage you to contact us if you want us to consider you for one of our featured articles .
I know you will be inspired , motivated , and even touched by this issue ' s collection of talented feature artists .
Enjoy ,
