FROM THE INSTITUTE
Dear Readers , encaustic / wax artists and collectors :
It has been great and rewarding to witness our growth as a magazine and how the Encaustic Art Institute continues to fulfill its central mission of making the public aware of the encaustic / wax media and movement . Through teaching and having the Institute open to the public with its ongoing exhibit at the Albuquerque International Airport this summer — Encaustic Arts magazine and EAI have surpassed our expectations .
Suppose you had the opportunity , as I ' ve had , to witness thousands of people who know nothing about encaustic / wax come to find out about it for the first time as they do at the Institute . In that case , you will realize how important it is for us as encaustic / wax artists to spread the word . Furthermore , as the medium is compatible with nearly all other media , lending to the mixedmedia faction of artists , it reflects the rich diversity of artists lending their expertise and knowledge to Encaustic Arts magazine . As our dedicated and fantastic editor , Kari Gorden , points out , " I find all the work in this issue to be incredibly inspiring ."
To help us to continue to grow and get the public on board with the encaustic / wax movement , I have a challenge for each of you . There is something more than working in your studio , especially with encaustic / wax . We need a wider educated audience , so use this magazine as a tool to accomplish that . Send it to all you know , not just your artist friends . Share with your patrons , family , and acquaintances , and one by one , encaustic will become an even better-known art form . Really , it is important .
Have a wonderful Holiday , and may the New Year bring your artistic endeavors to fruition . Remember this spring to plant lots of flowers for the bees !
