John took me on a trip to Santa Fe and introduced me to Canyon Road . I felt drawn to encaustic paintings , and he talked me into trying it myself . I can tell you I was more than a little intimidated . As scared as those first times I performed violin in front of an audience . Art became as freeing as music .
Creative expression gives me a release from the weight of my job . Art , like playing 3 my violin and singing , sets me free , clears my mind of all of the complexities of psychiatric nursing . I look at my Asian pieces , and they put me in a Zen-like mood , and people who view them tell me they feel the same thing . My hope is that when people look at my art work it brings out feelings of peace and tranquility and positive energy . 4
