Santa Fe painter Russell Thurston has been working with the encaustic medium for more than a decade
and has become one of the most innovative and accomplished encaustic artists in the country, with
numerous solo shows in Santa Fe, Chicago and New York. A founding member of the Encaustic Art
Institute, he’s taught workshops all over the country. He spoke about his work with Gretchen Reynolds, a
journalist in Santa Fe.
