FROM THE INSTITUTE
Dear Readers ,
As the world has shifted its awareness from the immediate plight of Covid and on to new issues that face many of us , I am reminded over and over again of the importance of maintaining creative space within . For me , it isn ’ t so much the end result of artwork but the process one engages in that brings the most reward and ability to balance all of Life and rekindle Joy .
This issue ’ s cover is by Linda Foley . In her article she shares , “ Humor is my medicine of choice and is often at the heart of my pieces … even when examining life ’ s challenges and world events .” Francesca Saveri shares , “ I made a decision not too long ago , to choose Light . Joy . To choose Yes . I ’ ve returned home to the essential me who thrives by infusing the joy of colorful creative expression with my outside experiences .”
Our featured artists generously share their lives , creative process , artwork , and techniques . As their words and visuals move me , I hope you , too , will be motivated and find a connection to something within that speaks to you .
I would like to think that this magazine also affords you a sense of creative community , as some of you live in rural situations or countries where this medium has barely taken hold . So don ’ t hesitate to reach out to us or the artists featured in this issue .
It is an interesting journey to surf the web and social media looking for encaustic and wax-driven artists to be featured in our magazines . We stay tuned all year to who crosses our path and search out the artists on the leading edge of their medium or subject matter . I encourage you to contact us if you would like to be considered for one of our future issues .
With gratitude and sincerity ,
