It took me thirty years to become the painter that I am today. And while most
of those years were devoted to painting in watercolor, I now regard that time as
an apprenticeship of sorts. I formed opinions and developed sensibilities that
defined me as an artist, not a watercolor or an encaustic painter. I simply paint,
and what a long, strange trip it’s been.
