Welcome Our New Health & Fitness Writer
This month we ’ re beyond proud and excited to introduce our fitness editor . I ’ ve known this beauty for 11 years now . I couldn ’ t think of a more qualified person to be the editor of this section . She has been such a support to everything we ’ ve been doing while patiently awaiting the release of this publication so she can pour her soul out for all of you to read . Here ’ s a look into our chat .
Q . Being the strong , beautiful woman we see in front of us today , have you always had a passion for fitness ?
A . No , I didn ’ t not always have it . Being fit , eating healthy was definitely not my lifestyle before I started this journey . I ate massive junk food , drank Pepsi ’ s all day , everyday , and could not stay committed to exercising .
I promised myself I would try again tomorrow . Tomorrow came , I pushed myself , and I did it . Since then I have not looked back !!
Q . How many days per week did you start working out in the beginning ?
A . When I first started I worked out 6 days a week . Giving myself one rest day to recover . Since then I have increased the intensity of my workouts so now I give myself 2 rest days ! -When I first started I enjoyed running , and doing High Intensity Interval Training , also known as HIIT . I was a believer in the horrible rumors about women and weightlifting so I steered clear from the gym and weights at the time . Plus I was dealing with mental illnesses at the time and suffered from what doctors labeled as agoraphobia which is a fear to leave home and be in public places . So I stayed and worked out very close to home , and in my
and introduced me to HIIT . But other than that I am self taught and have learned everything on my own . I spend numerous hours studying the concepts , muscles groups and create routines that I do myself . It ’ s trial and error . I have plateaued and have had to push through the plateaus !
Q . How or when did you decide that this is what you wanted to do ?
A . I realized it was right for me the day I decided I was truly tired of being tired , and unhealthy . I was on my way to death and knew I had to do something , or I would die a lot sooner than I anticipated . I went for a short .... very short run and became out of breath very quickly . I cried , I told myself “ I wish I could do it but I can ’ t , it hurts too much ”. Then I headed home . It was very shortly after my small run that I felt better , happier , livelier , almost immediately after the run and I caught my breath again . It was then , I knew what I had to do to feel better . I knew then that I had to push myself . home . 5 months after continuous HIIT routines I started to really feel better mentally and decided to give the weights a shot . I got a membership at a community center , started lifting light , and it was then I KNEW I would forever love lifting . It became my passion and to this day I am still lifting and doing amazing things with it .
Q . Do you have a mentor that helps you stay on track ?
A . When I first started I did have a fitness coach out of Las Vegas Nevada who helped me to understand the importance of goals ,
I cried , I told myself “ I wish I could do it but I can ’ t , it hurts too much ”.
Q . What are your future plans and what can readers expect from you ?
A . My plans are to train for 7 more months and acquire my Training Certificate . I want to be a motivational fitness trainer . I want to help others who think it is impossible !! I have a story to tell , it is full of heartbreak , happiness , struggles , blood , sweat and tears . I promise to share a full article in upcoming issues . Please stay tuned to read the full story of my life , my journey , and how I know for a fact that it is possible for anyone to achieve if they truly want it bad enough !
