WINNER KEVIN MURPHY
ExCeL London chairman Murphy ’ s career has included private publishing , exhibition businesses and senior corporate positions with large media owners , such as AGB , Maxwell Business Communications and Emap .
During his time as CEO of ExCeL London he oversaw the investment of £ 165m from ExCeL ’ s London owners , ADNEC to create a further 40,000 sqm of exhibit space and a new International Convention Centre for London . He also secured a further £ 55m investment in opening the UK ’ s first Aloft hotel .
A board member of London and Partners , the official promotion organisation for London , until 2017 , Murphy worked to attract international businesses to meet and exhibit in the UK capital city and to promote London internationally . In 2015 he joined the board of Visit Britain , the strategic body for inbound tourism and the National Tourism Agency , a public body funded by DCMS .
Murphy has served twice as chairman of the AEO , as a board member of ABC and also chairman of the AEV .
In 2016 he was awarded the OBE in recognition of his services to the business tourism industry .
