Pamela Grace Krakowski Touts the Creativity of Falk Students
In April 2023 , several Falk Laboratory School faculty members traveled to Toronto , Ontario , Canada , for the annual conference of the International Association of Laboratory Schools ( IALS ), Designing Cultures of Learning : The Essential Purpose of Lab Schools .
While there , they had the pleasure of catching up with longtime Falk art teacher Pam ( Krakowski ) Armstrong , who retired from Falk in 2021 . Armstrong gave a poster presentation drawing on some of the stories , themes , and threads of her recently published book , “ Entering a Child ’ s World : Narrative Pedagogy in Early Childhood Art Education .” Many of the stories and observations in the book derive from Armstrong ’ s long career as a K-4 art teacher at Falk .
“ It was a wonderful treat for all of the current Falk faculty members attending the IALS conference to see Dr . Armstrong and catch up with her ,” says kindergarten teacher Amy Strada .
“ From the moment anyone meets Pam , they immediately understand how passionate she is about learning , both for others and for herself ,” says Jill Sarada . “ I attribute my passion for lab schools to her and her invitation to join her at an IALS conference . It ’ s wonderful to see her active in the lab school community .”
Strada adds , “ It ’ s amazing that , even in her retirement , Dr . Armstrong continues to tirelessly promote the creativity , invention , world building , and storytelling of Falk School ’ s students to the world !” ■
