baby wipes and a technicality in my business ’ s insurance policy .
One day , I check on the art gallery and there was sewage up to my knees--everything was ruined . Apparently , the upstairs residents was a young family with a baby and they frequently flushed baby wipes down the toilet , which caused a major clog in the pipes and they bursted . To make matters worse , our insurance policy covered alcohol related incidents , but nothing “ baby-wipe ” related ( laughs ). I had no choice but to close the doors of my business . I was devastated . The wine blog , which I was reluctant to even start in the first place , ending up saving my life .
ON WHY SHE ENCOURAGES ASPIRING ENTRE- PRENEURS TO KEEP THEIR DAY JOB I see new business owners say they ’ re “ going all in ” or “ taking the plunge ” into entrepreneurship and think that means they have to quit their day jobs in order to build . There ’ s this shame attached to keeping a stable job with benefits when pursuing the sexy world of self-employment . But why would you quit something that could fuel your business ? If you have no reserves , why wouldn ’ t you keep your 9 to 5 ? Even after your business is thriving , there ’ s nothing shameful about keeping your lifeline .
