Identity Theft - Be Proactive with your Credit
It’s nearly impossible to go through life without some form of credit. Not just in regards to houses and cars, but everyday credit cards for department stores, grocery stores, gas stations, you name it. As we’ve seen, credit is what makes this economy run. Right or wrong, it’s a part of us now.
Credit is both easy to abuse and easy to use. It takes discipline to use credit correctly but once you know the ins and outs of how credit works to your advantage, with diligence, you can easily have a great credit score!
It can happen to anyone! Thieves target good to excellent credit holders to take full advantage of their credit. It isn’t beneficial to steal the identity of those whose credit isn’t great because the main focus is to use someone's excellent credit to purchase whatever they choose.
Protect yourselves even though you don’t believe it can happen to you. Here are a few tips to follow: monitor your credit, shred mail that contains personal information and thoroughly peruse your checking and savings account statements. Whatever else you do, be diligent about monitoring everything for yourself, your credit and your money.
