Findings and Discussion
The programme was delivered across 10 schools within the academic year 24-25. Schools were asked to select students who they perceived might be low in confidence, disengaged, or beginning to disengage, in education with a preference for students who were either from a Uni Connect target postcode and / or in receipt of Free School Meals( FSM). This resulted in 40 % of the students meeting being from a target postcode.
The programme was promoted through mailing lists to the contacts held by SUN within the school and the majority are from medium to high priority school list that SUN uses. However, in addition, as SUN is part of the Dorset Boys Impact Hub, it also was promoted through the membership of that group which resulted in an additional school being in receipt of the programme( but was a low priority for the Uni Connect programme).
The programme was direct delivery within the school with two members of staff attending both sessions.
Finance / Cost With the assumption that a project lead and project facilitator attended each session, the costs for a twohour workshop with two staff members including travel is £ 330. Each school received two workshops, so the total cost is approx. £ 6,600. This equates to approx. £ 37 per student.
Outcomes Each student was given the opportunity to complete a pre survey( workshop 1) and a post survey( workshop 2). In total there were 177 students who took part in the workshops, however only 147 completed the pre-survey and 144 completed post-survey, which was a completion rate of 83 % for the first workshop and 81 % for the second workshop.
Respondents Pre-Survey = n. 147 except Q2( n. 139) Post-Survey = n. 143 except Q1 and Q3( n. 144)
