14 Employability Week: Programme of Events YABILITY PO LO 10 10am-11am: The Marquee EM P Interested in working in a gallery? Come along to find out more from someone who already does the job! Katie McGown (Studio 3 Gallery Assistant) will deliver a presentation aimed at students who are thinking about applying for jobs in galleries. EM P 12pm-1pm: KLT5 (All students interested in completing this module during 2015-16) The Kent Student Certificate for Volunteering (KSCV) Platinum award is the highest level of volunteering award at the University of Kent. It involves carrying out 3 volunteering placements or projects across 1 academic year and building up a portfolio based on your volunteering. Throughout the year you are also expected to produce a 500 word report, a written statement of learning (essay) and give a panel presentation. The award requires you to get involved with a wide range of volunteering activities and focuses Think Big Choose Small YABILITY PO LO 10 12pm-1pm: PK127, Medway campus (All students) Thinking outside the box when it comes to your graduate career. We hear lots about big graduate schemes, but thousands of graduates find amazing careers in smaller companies. Come to this workshop run by STEP to find out more about working in smaller organisations, and where to find those jobs. Kent Opportunities Fair YABILITY PO LO 5 TS IN TS IN 11am-12pm: The Marquee An Introduction to KSCV Platinum YABILITY PO LO 10 on the skills and abilities that you will develop as a volunteer. Before you can start the KSCV Platinum, you must have already completed some voluntary activity whilst you have been a student at the University of Kent and preferably undertaken the KSCV Silver (50 hours) certificate. Depending on your course, you may be able to choose KSCV Platinum as a credit bearing module (15 credits instead of another module choice). If that is not possible, it will show on your degree transcript as an extra module on top of the modules that you would need to undertake in order to meet your degree requirements. TS IN Interested in Working in 10 a Gallery? Find Out More! YABILITY PO LO (All students) All you need to know to progress into legal careers. This talk is for both law and non-law students who are interested in a career in the legal professions (solicitor, barrister or legal executive). Careers in law are very competitive; you need to be prepared to compete at the highest level. This talk will help you to identify the extra-curricular activities you should be getting involved in and how. We will also look at work experience and how to get it and finally, but importantly, the support available to help you achieve your aims. TS IN (All students) Looking to gain work experience in a theatre or in the creative arts industry more generally? Come along and find out more from those in the know. The School of Arts has teamed up with the Marlowe Theatre to host a workshop about breaking into the creative arts sector. Marlowe's Head of Creative Projects, Daniel Lipman, will be offering useful tips and advice about the sector. Whether you want to be working on lighting and rigs or scheduling events come along and find out more. Make sure you get involved! 11am-12pm: G4-04, Medway campus EM P Careers at the Marlowe Theatre and Beyond TS IN EM P (Stage 1 and 2 Computing students only) Posters will be exhibited capturing the experiences of returning placement students and demonstrating the benefits of doing a placement. This will show second years the diversity of industries, companies and roles available for the Year in Industry.
