His last band, we did a show with them and after their show he came up to me — we asked him to audition for our band a while back, but he was already in another band — he came up to me after this one show and said, “I should’ve joined this band a long time ago.” We’ve known each other forever and has a lot of experience, so he jumped right in. Criswell: We actually got Jared off of bandmeet. com. That actually works? S: Yeah! I went through like 20 pages of drummers and was just about to give up and clicked on one of his videos. Luckily he put his phone number on there, so I called him and asked, “Hey man, do you want to go on tour in like a week?” He said, “Fuck yeah!” C: Two days before we came across his profile, my co-worker actually mentioned him and I didn’t think anything of it because everybody who knows nothing about drums says every drummer is a good drummer, so this guy was telling me he’s really badass and I kind of blew it off, I was like, “Serious inquiries only.” Sure enough, we come across him two days later and it’s like, “That’s the same motherfucker that works for the company I do!” S: We finally feel like we got the right lineup with the right guys with the heart and the hunger to make this happen. Are you looking to record anytime soon, now that you’ve got a new lineup? S: In October we’re going on tour with Rains for about 8 weeks, and then over the holidays we’re going to try to get in the studio and write some new stuff. Last year about that time we toured up north and we hit that blizzard and we were up there for like three weeks and it was terrible, so we’re like, “This time, let’s just go record.” C: We’re in the midst of starting writing for the new record, one of which we played tonight.
