ABRUZZO
ocated in central Italy on the Adriatic side, Abruzzo is
one of those regions that has everything: from sea to
mountains, from natural parks to ski pistes, from little
villages to big art cities. The sea of Abruzzo is unforget-
table: 133 kilometres of coastline with golden sands, cool pine fore-
sts, cliffs, promontories, little bays with pebbles smoothed by the
undertow of the waves, bustling beaches and solitary shores where
you can sunbathe in all tranquillity: the sea of Abruzzo is all this, with
the addition of the congeniality and proverbial hospitality of the pe-
ople of Abruzzo. Not to mention the mountains of Abruzzo, the part
of regional territory which, for its history, cultural, artistic, archeo-
logical and environmental resources, most strongly characterizes
this region. A superb nature protected by a continuation of parks,
natural reserves and bird sanctuaries. The hand of man has also left
an indelible mark: a fantastic heritage of art monuments, culture,
and tradition. A past narrated by the multitude of churches, abbeys,
hermitages and villages in stone, perched on high, here and the-
re amongst the mountains. Houses standing close together in the
defensive embrace of the local populations against the dangers of
the time. Abruzzo, with 21 villages in the Club of the most beautiful
“borghi” of Italy, is a journey amongst places of enchantment, where
you are aware of the colour of time and the mysterious sounds of
the ancient world.
