special holiday in the tranquillity of its nature and its old villages.
In the Marche are two national parks and four regional ones, renowned
health resorts, skiing localities, fortresses and castles of intact elegan-
ce but, above all, a splendid coastal tract that extends for 180 kilometers from the
point of Gabicce Mare to the mouth of the river Tronto. The Marche shore, facing
the blue Adriatic Sea, constituted of alternating shingle, rocky and sandy beaches,
reaches the peak of its beauty in the Riviera del Conero. This area, full of white
bays which can often only be reached by boat or along paths cut into the green
thick Mediterranean maquis, has been often awarded the European Blue Flag for
its beaches.
