From late 2012 to early 2013, chemical production continued to shrink in developed countries, while growing in emerging economies. Indeed, the euro-zone crisis is expected to continue to weigh heavily on the industry this year and the following one. Oxford Economics expects global chemical output to accelerate to 3% in 2013 from last year's 2% (vs. 4.25% projected earlier) and to grow at the pace of 4.25% in 2014.
