An interview occurred with Maryam AlYasi, one
of the famous Emirati designers, on Wednesday
29 Oct, at 5 p.m. She was asked several questions
about how she started her business and how she
hopes to improve it.

According to Maryam, she faced some struggles in

AlSageer, I failed in the beginning, but then I started to
realize what did I do wrong,” said Maryam.

The youngest Emirati designer

Maryam AlYasi, a 21 years old, the youngest
Emirati designer who has been famous globally in a very short time, and has
made many achievements in her
fashion line since she started her
business until now.
Although Maryam AlYasi failed at
her first try which was in AlTajr
AlSageer, she didn’t lose hope but
kept trying till she reached the
point that she is in right now.

Maryam’s first step was at the
age of 15, she wasn’t that famous,
and she was known only in the
social network such as Facebook
and Flickr.

Developing a designing hobby through social
media sites to something bigger was all what
Maryam aims for; she always hoped to improve
this hobby to a business.

Maryam jumped rapidly from someone who’s
unknown in the social media, to someone famous
and known globally with her successes.

“It was my hobby, and I always thought
about it, it’s like something I love, and I
will always give it from my heart,” said
Maryam AlYasi.
“My mother always gave me that push
and supported me,” she added.

Maryam participated
at AlTajr AlSageer
Competition, which
means “Young Entrepreneur Competition,”
a competition or an
exhibition by Sheik
Mohammed Bin
Rashid, that happens
every year, and is
based in The Dubai
Mall and sometimes
in Wafi center.

AlTajr AlSageer is
where the young locals who don’t own
a shop can participate in this exhibition
and they can present their work and
businesses there, businesses can be like
designing dresses and abayas, baking
cookies, and much more.

Maryam failed at first at AlTajr AlSageer
as she mentioned, but she didn’t stop
trying, she put faith in herself, and she

her fashion line, but she never thought of closing or

stopping her business, because she completed five
years since she started this journey. The struggles
sometimes were from people’s bad comments, but
this kind of people made her be powerful and never
go back.
Maryam consider her success in her business as a
dream, and this dream became true, as her famous
motto is “Nothing’s Impossible,” and she believes in
it.

Maryam AlYasi has inspired many local girls and
gave them the idea of achieving their goals no matter how hard and difficult they are, because that
what she has done exactly at her first try, so as a
successful woman and has a long experience in the
designing field, Maryam was asked to give some advises to the girls that have fashion talents, and what
are the ways to improve it.
