The program is modeled after a successful program in Germany which was effective in developing high-skill talent , increasing student work ethic , and securing a professional career track at no additional cost for students or their families .
The organizations involved in this program include Lt . Gov . Casey Cagle ’ s Office , the German American Chamber of Commerce , Rockdale Career Academy , Newton College & Career Academy , Georgia Piedmont Technical College , Conyers Rockdale Economic Development Council , Covington Newton
County Chamber of Commerce , Georgia Tech Manufacturing Extension Partnership , and seven local manufacturing companies . The manufacturing companies involved in the program include Bosch , FiberVisions , General Mills , Haver & Boecker , Michelin Tread Technologies , Nisshinbo , and Verescence .
The Legacy of Charles Walker

Georgia International Horse Park ( GIHP ), where his leadership was a driving force in bidding for the Olympic equestrian venue that would result in the development of the GIHP . The Charles C . Walker arena is named in his honor .
After serving as mayor , Charles Walker went on to become a project manager with the Conyers-Rockdale Chamber of Commerce . In this role , he consulted with many small businesses in the area to help them grow and thrive .

His contributions to this community are unmatched .
