them which fosters trust. Sometimes we
have been able to reconnect them with
family which has helped them get off the
streets.
We accept donations for project Re-
Home at AWAKE which funds everything
from “comfort bags” (bags with necessity
items and toiletries) to temporary housing
assistance. We believe that a hand up
and caring heart is changing lives for the
better. We hope you will partner with us.
L
ocal Outreach, Relationships, and
Community. That is the heart of
what we do at AWAKE. We work
towards showing love in practical ways.
Being in Olde Town, we have the privilege
of getting to know our community and all
the different people who make it up, on a
personal level. Whether it’s a judge from
across the street at the courthouse or the
man who lives under a nearby bridge and
walks to his job daily at Goodwill, we
try to make everyone feel welcomed and
valued.
As the local Outreach coordinator, my
team and I usually work with those who
are displaced and in need of assistance.
The needs may range from a warm meal
and hot cup of coffee to resources for
housing assistance. We try and connect
everyone in need with a community
partner who may be able to assist them.
We routinely team up with organizations
like Rockdale Emergency Relief, Conyers
First United Methodist Church, Refuge
Pregnancy Center and Partnership for
Community Action among others to find
assistance that may help move them out
of the place of need into a productive life.
We do this by building relationships with

wasn’t looking very healthy.
The fish department salesperson said
he was white because he was afraid and
nervous about the other fish on the shelf.
I will confess I wanted to pick out a fish
that had better chances of surviving, but
my husband wanted the white one. So we
took a risk and brought the stressed out
and dying fish home. Within the first few
days, he started to relax, and his white
appearance seemed pinker in color. Within

color! It was so exciting and rewarding to
see that the little fish was going to make
it! We waited to name him because we
wanted to see what color he would turn.
Every day more and more color appeared
to him. Now he has so much color that
from some angles he seems to be black!
We are happy to report we have one happy
and healthy fish who lives in our kitchen.
Welcome to the family Rainbow Fish!

enable the devil to whisper worry in
your ears, binding you to his deceptive
lies. I know as well as anyone that
sometimes it can be complicated to
allow indeed love to be our motivation.
Even feeling worthy to embrace this
kind of love can be overwhelming!
So when that fear or worry starts to
try to creep it’s way into your heart
and thoughts, remember this piece of
truth from Corrie Ten Boom: “There
is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not
deeper still.” Love has been perfected
among us through Christ Jesus so that
we may boldly stand before the Lord
our God. Love has been perfected
among us through Christ so that we
can openly proclaim to those fears of a
financial crisis, fears of relational ruin,
fears of social or personal inadequacy
and to the enemy that they have no

world are childhood and
