ALCOVY MEDIA CONGRATULATES SCARECROW CONTEST WINNERS

n October, Alcovy Media
sponsored the Scarecrow
Contest and Showcase that was
held by Main Street Covington. The
downtown square was decorated
with original scarecrows created by
individuals and businesses from the
area. Alcovy Media selected three
winners in the business category
for their originality and creativity.
The winners were Southern Roots
Outfitters Covington in First Place,
WildArt LLC in Second Place, and
Town Square Olive Oil in Third
Place.
“Congratulations the business
category winners of the Scarecrow
Contest and Showcase! There was
plenty of creativity to go around this
year and everyone did a phenomenal
job decorating! We were proud to
sponsor such a fun event,” said Allie
Young, owner of Alcovy Media.

Theatre Salem 3rd in State, Best
Actor Patriot Players One Act State
Champions, Best Actor

won third overall in the state AAAA
GHSA One-Act Competition on Nov.
11, following their Region 4-AAAA One
Act Championship win in October. Jordan
Moreno won Best Lead Actor in the state
AAAA competition, and was also previously
named the Best Lead Actor for Region eritage High School’s Patriot
Players won the AAAAAA State
Championship title in the GHSA
One-Act Competition on Nov. 11. Amarih
Matthews was named Best Actor for State
AAAAAA. This follows their Region
3-AAAAAA Championship win in October.

Five RCPS Students Chosen for REACH $10K Scholarships

who successfully complete the
program and graduate from high
school are awarded a $10,000
scholarship that can be used at
any university or college in the
University System of Georgia,
Technical College System of
Georgia, or eligible private
postsecondary institution. The
scholarship is in addition to any
other grant or scholarship the
student receives.
RCPS Foundation Executive
Director Kysa Daniels said,
“REACH Georgia is a game-
changer for so many bright and
focused students, including those
right here in Rockdale who desire
a post-secondary education but
may lack the funds to attend
college. The RCPS Foundation is
pleased to serve as the fundraising
lead for our district’s REACH
Georgia academic development
and scholarship program. We are
hopeful that REACH will serve as a
catalyst to engage even more of our
community and business partners
that want to ensure success for
Rockdale students.”
The students in this first RCPS
cohort of REACH Scholars were
selected based on grades, behavior,
recommendations and rounds of
interviews. Each scholar and their
parent signed letters of commitment
to the five-year program during
the ceremony held at Rockdale
Career Academy. Rockdale County
Board of Education Chairman
Jim McBrayer presented a
commendation from Gov. Nathan
Rockdale County Public School’s first
REACH Scholars and their parents
signed letters of commitment to the
five year, $10,000 scholarship pro-
