“
And suddenly there
was with the angel
a multitude of the
heavenly host, praising
God and saying, 14 “Glory
to God in the highest, and
on earth peace, good will
toward men.” Luke 2:13, 14
Christmas is a beautiful
time of the year filled with
joy and great cheer. Just like
the angels on that Christmas
night, we can sing praise
to God for blessing us
with the ability to see the
Christ within everyone. It
is easy this time of year to
recognize the good in each
and every person. And I
think Jesus demonstrated
this throughout his life,
which began with his birth.
He was born in a barn,
wrapped in cloths, and was
laid in a manger, and yet he
was celebrated as a child of
God who would bring forth
Faith, Hope, Peace, Love,
and Joy in every aspect of
his teaching. We can learn
that no matter what our
outer condition is we can
look beyond the appearance
of lack and limitation and
see as God sees beholding
the Christ in everyone. We
are each a child of God and
as such we can celebrate
each other as we celebrate
the birth of Jesus Christ.
Have a magnificent and
wondrous Christmas!

Conyers Middle School Named
Finalist for STEM Education Award
R
ockdale County Public Schools is
proud to announce Conyers Middle
School (CMS) was named a finalist
for the 2017 STEM Education Awards in
the middle school category sponsored by the
Technology Association of Georgia (TAG)
and TAG Education Collaborative. This is
the premier STEM (science, technology,
engineering, mathematics) education
recognition event in the state and recognizes
our state’s top STEM educators, schools,
companies, and programs.
“We are delighted that the Technology
Association of Georgia has honored the hard
work and excellence of our faculty, staff,
and students,” said CMS Principal Allison
Barbour. “The Center for Technology and
Engineering aerospace program not only
excites students about STEM subjects, it
prepares students for successful careers in
aviation and aerospace industries.”
CMS Assistant Principal Anterro Graham
said, “Four years ago, this program was
created with the vision of becoming a
direct conduit from elementary school all
the way through to an aviation career. This
recognition is a testament to the great strides
toward this vision. We are engineering
excellence at Conyers Middle School every
day.”
Lt. Col. Stephen Williams, instructor at
the Center for Technology and Engineering
at CMS, said, “We are proud to be named
a finalist for the STEM Education Award.”
With the addition of a new Drone Flight
Lab and 25 state-of-the-art drones and
controllers, Williams said students will also
learn the basics of drone flight and Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements
in addition to the existing aerospace
curriculum, which includes physics,
atmospheric science, navigation, math, and
more. “They will be one step closer to being
able to obtain a commercial FAA Drone
Pilot License by the age of 16 and continue
towards a career in aviation.”
The STEM Education Awards were
held November 3, 2017 at the Loudermilk
Center in downtown Atlanta. For more
