Pew's 2015 Global Attitudes Survey delves into a world
of faith to uncover which nationalities place the most—
and least—importance on religion in daily life. Of the
40 countries represented below, seven out of the top 10 are
sub-Saharan African, while not a single European country—
not counting Turkey—appears in the first half of the list. China
features as the country where religion matters least in daily
life. The study findings also reveal a correlation between
religion and poverty, with religion apparently more important
to residents of poorer countries.
