If this is your first time reading Emerge The Magazine, get ready to gain some profound insight from up and coming and seasoned entrepreneurs who have successfully started their business ventures. If this is your second time, welcome back and thank you for your loyalty to the Emerge brand. I am honored to be entrusted with a magazine that has broken so much ground in such a short period of time. Emerge The Magazine is a publication that stands for something; endless learning and growth. We embrace the idea that business serves a purpose in our ever-changing world that extends beyond only making a profit, and that a responsible and sustainable enterprise can be a platform for growth and progress. Emerge The Magazine is continually searching for ways to be that platform. Here at Emerge The Magazine, we are always exploring new ways to help small business, business owners, and entrepreneurs. We advocate working together, seek ways to help businesses put knowledge into action, inspire others, help create success, and of course, always watch businesses emerge. In May, we hosted our Emerge Premiere in Washington, D.C. It was such a magical night for the Emerge The Magazine team. The venue was breathtakingly gorgeous. The attendees were glamorous. The red carpet glistened. The networking was glorious, with individuals from multiple industries and all walks of commerce to make sure the event was a success. Attendees were able to learn more about the vision for the Emerge brand as well as weave, mesh and rub elbows with powerhouses from the business, media, fashion and philanthropic industries, to name a few. Our Premiere event was just one of the many events we have hosted during the year. We organize monthly networking events and have collaborated on various fashion shows, award ceremonies and nonprofit fundraisers to promote the Emerge vision and demonstrate our dedication to Emerge. Our signature question: What does the word Emerge mean to you, is one that always garners varied responses. It is amazing how many creative in-depth responses we receive when a person reflects on the question and answers it. People are instantly motivated and ready to rise to the challenge of explaining their viewpoint. Personally, I often ask myself this question. There is nothing more discouraging to me than being stagnant. I want to Emerge at everything I do whether it be as a mother, daughter, sister, friend, CEO, employer, student or a person. To me, Emerge means having the courage to step outside my comfort zone and strive for what I want in life. My answer and my definition are ever-changing. I hope this issue, which touches on everything from the music industry to government contracting, helps get your wheels turning, creative impulses flowing, and thinking about ways you can Emerge. We are appreciative of your feedback and hope that the articles chosen for this issue demonstrate our desire to engage more broadly and deeply with you. Stay with us—and expect more.
